Reminders

  • I made this for my personal self and so have adapted accordingly. Please try this build in the Virtual machine first to see if it fits your needs. If you don't like any aspect of this build, try others here at Soft4Win
  • You should know what "Lite" means. Everything Microsoft packs in the Windows installation image is there for a reason, removing stuff compromises your system stability and put your data and hardware at risk. In short, use at your own risk
  • Always do a full system scan with your choice of anti-virus program after fresh install before doing anything else. Don't trust the builds you snatch from the Internet
  • Always use updated Windows. Not updating Windows Jeopardises your system security and put your data at risk.

This Windows 8.1 exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Nae0zZ. It ran so well, I attempted to add the printing service back into it, so it would become my main desktop. Alas, I’m just not geeky enough to pull it off. Doing an image repair ruins the great work that was done with this OS. So it will become my backup OS.

go to control panel, under administrative tools and under services enable print spooler and printer extensions

Thank you for responding. Actually, I tried that first. Both services “failed to start”, and presented me with “ error code 2, error code 3, error code 126. After that I stopped. Thank you again.

Yes, I did that as well. Start up type was “Automatic”. Status was “running”. In the description block, though, it said failed to start. So I went ahead and installed the printer driver, but it also failed part way thru the install process. I’ll do another clean install, and go thru everything you showed me, then get back to you and let you know how I made out. Thanks so much.
